So we decided to hit the beach. Maddie & Aidan haven't been to the beace since our less than successful attempt last summer down the Cape. Neither was too keen on sand and were only interested in being held. Granted, they were only 10 months old at the time.
We decided to play it smart this time and do a test run at a local pond. Here's the gear required to take a couple of 21 month olds to the beach for 2 hours:
(Still shocks us everytime - though we do subscribe to the "better safe then sorry" theory)
So, how'd it go??? THEY LOVED IT!!! Couldn't get them out of the water! We ended up abandoning our grand idea of a beach picnic because we couldn't drag them out of the water long enough to eat.
Here's Aidan getting his swim on (okay, he's actually just sitting on the ground - but that would be pretty impressive):
And Pebbles (er...Maddie) was in bucket heaven:
Maddie & Aidan even made friends at the beach. A (mildy irritating) older boy was hell bent on impressing them with his older boy skills. Apparently it worked because Aidan now runs around saying "Cool" to everything. So it begins...
I love when photos tell stories. Below is a little insight into the mind of an almost 2 year old boy. Allow me to narrate...
"Hey Maddie, how's it going?" (as little Maddie poses for the camera)
"Those are some neat looking buckets you've got there"
(I think this is considered a foul in most sports since technically he isn't going directly for the bucket)
Despited a few tussles over the buckets, a fabulous time was had by all and we're looking forward to many, many more beach trips in our future! Kurt is so relieved that his little ones enjoy the beach.

Looks like a good time! Mine love the buckets too. I think they almost like that better than the water part sometimes!
